The 16th-century Lana Berlucchi palace was built on the pre-existing medieval structures of the Lana de’ Terzi family. The house was the residence of Guido Berlucchi (who came up with the idea of the first Franciacorta sparkling wine). Inside the palace, you can admire the painting of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus and patroness of the arts, whose portrait dates back to 1495 when she was a guest at the palace.
Borgonato is a picturesque village that stands on a rocky hill in the heart of Franciacorta. It is home to important wineries. On the hill you can admire the castle and the church of San Salvatore. Also of interest in the village are the former church of San Vitale, the parish church and the former “Villa Lana” now called “Berlucchi”.
