Perched on the hill and surrounded by the Venetian Walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Città Alta is the richest part of the city’s history. It still retains the medieval and Renaissance atmospheres (Piazza Vecchia and Piazza Duomo), harkens back to the communal age (Palazzo della Ragione) and Venetian rule (Palazzo del Podestà and the walls along which are the four 16th-century gates).

Before leaving Bergamo city centre, we recommend taking some time to explore the beauties of Città Bassa, from its captivating boroughs to the street art works in the Malpensata district. Heading east, you’ll across Piazza Sant’Anna, the Monumental Cemetery, and the Daste and Spalenga power station, which is now a lively cultural hub. As you continue, you’ll be enchanted by the historical villas, with standout mentions for the 16th-century Villa dei Tasso, the mysterious ‘Devil’s Gate’, and finally, Villa La Gargana.

Enjoy your ride!
